UCSD Extension professor Larry Destro invited Joyce Tang to share her immigrant roots and self-made business journey at his business class. The class is largely consisted of international students with various academic backgrounds and cultures who share the common goal of honing their business know-how and advancing their careers in their home countries or in the US.
“Besides telling my own stories, I also tried to make them relatable and highlight a few takeaways for the students. There’s been many official and unofficial mentors in my life. Both hardships and triumphs helped shape me into who I am today. If there’s even just one tip I give that can light their path, I’m happy.” says Joyce.
The mission of UC San Diego Extension is to serve the critical lifelong learning and skill development needs of individuals, organizations and the community. The school does this through continuing education, certificate and degree-related programs; community initiatives that support economic and social development; and a wide array of public-service lectures, forums and special events delivered both on and off campus and through print, internet, radio and television.
